Sigirya Tour

Sigirya Tour

Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is one of Sri Lanka’s most famous and important historical sites. This ancient rock fortress was built over 1,500 years ago by King Kashyapa, who made it his royal palace and stronghold. Rising about 200 meters above the surrounding jungle, Sigiriya offers amazing views and fascinating history. The site is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning.

Visitors can climb to the top of the rock, passing through beautiful water gardens, stone steps, and the famous Mirror Wall. Along the way, you can see the world-famous Sigiriya frescoes—ancient paintings of women on the rock face. Near the top, the huge Lion’s Paw marks the entrance to the final staircase.

Nearby, Pidurangala Rock offers a shorter hike and a stunning view of Sigiriya itself. Other nearby attractions include the Dambulla Cave Temple, Minneriya National Park (great for elephant safaris), and the peaceful village of Habarana.

Sigiriya is not only a place of beauty, but also a symbol of ancient Sri Lankan engineering, art, and history. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in culture, nature, or adventure.
